A Friends Group was formed in 2008 and has recently (2013) been revived with support from Burnley Civic Trust. We are a voluntary, not-for-profit, organisation open to all and aim to:-

HELP CONSERVE AND PROMOTE THE HISTORICAL, SOCIAL AND ECOLOGICAL VALUE OF THE BURNLEY CEMETERIES FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE INHABITANTS OF THE AREA

We will work with Burnley Council and other relevant organisations and groups, including church groups, to achieve this aim.  A programme of events and activities will be arranged and publicised.  What we do will depend on the number and interests of members and might involve: researching and recording the history of the cemeteries, their monuments and memorials; ecological surveys and habitat creation; planting bulbs, wildflowers and trees; creating walk/trail leaflets; and raising funding to carry out a range of improvements in the cemeteries and burial grounds.

Existing Partner Organisations include:

Air Training Corps, 352 (Burnley) Squadron

Burnley Civic Trust

Burnley Council

Burnley Historical Society

Fresh Fields Enterprises Ltd.,

Globe Motor Cycle Club

Police Cadets

Royal British Legion Riders
